DAVID SCHULGEN, Chairman/CEO
David Schulgen is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Airstreams Renewables, Inc. and has been involved in nearly all areas of wind energy for the last 24 years. Dave has held multiple Directorships, Managerial and Supervisory positions responsible for the commissioning and operations of thousand of megawatts throughout his 24 years in the wind industry which included:
- Director of Field Services for Commercial Americas with Enron and GE Wind. Responsible for all the O&M wind projects in North America
- Director of Manufacturing responsible for the assembly of all Enron Wind / Commercial Americas 1.5 megawatt turbines, now the GE 1.5 turbine
- Training Manager responsible for the design and implementation of the Enron Skill Based Certification program which is used by GE Wind
- Manager of Electrical assembly for the Zond 750 turbine
- Sky River Site Supervisor a 77 megawatt Vestas V-27 s project
- Lead Technician 1500 65 kw turbines
- USMC Electrician
JEFF DUFF, President/COO
Jeff is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Airstreams Renewables, Inc. Jeff has over 9 years experience in the wind industry in areas including consulting, asset management, and system performance analysis. Jeff has also been a mathematics instructor for California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Cuesta Community College, and University of Phoenix. Jeff s experience has extended to numerous areas of wind power which included:
- System Performance Manager with GE Wind responsible for monthly technical reviews, RCA support and analysis, operations and service reporting, customer relations for over 1700 MW of wind turbines
- Technical Analyst with Zond/Enron Wind responsible for wind and turbine analysis, engineering support for a growing fleet of hundreds of owned and operated turbines throughout the world
- Jeff has an MS in Mathematics (with a specialization in teaching) and BA in Mathematics and Economics (International Trade)
- Jeff is a member of the AWEA Education Working Group.
MIKE MESSIER, Vice President of Training
Mike Messier is the Vice President of Training at Airstreams Renewables, Inc. For over 20 years Mike has been extensively involved in many areas of wind power. Mike has established himself as a leader in wind energy education by developing the training services department of Airstreams. He has helped to design training programs for numerous wind energy companies, as well as partnering with a number of community colleges to provide safety and technical expertise to educational programs. His experience also includes:
- Supervisor of training, Zond Energy Systems, Service Department
- Manager of Installation & Commissioning for both Enron Wind Corp and GE Wind Energy and maintained the responsibility of installing and commissioning over 1,700 MW of GE 1.5 projects within the Americas
- GE Wind Energy, Global Manager of Methods and Processes responsible of managing global Installation, Commissioning, Blade Services & Anemometry teams
- Director of Operations for Clipper WindPower
- Director of Environmental Health and Safety Training for Clipper WindPower
- Mike serves as an instructor and advisory board member for the Regional Occupation Program for the Wind Turbine Technician course
- Mike is a member of the AWEA Education Working Group
LISA GILBERT, Vice President of Academic Affairs
Lisa Gilbert is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Airstreams Renewables, Inc. Lisa joins the Airstreams staff with over 20 years experience in K-12 public education. She has served as a school administrator for 7 years, most recently as Chief Administrator of Instructional Services at the district office level. She brings a strong background in curriculum and program design, evaluation of instruction and student assessment, staff development and research-based best practices in teaching for student learning. Her experience includes:
- Chief Administrator of Instructional Services, Tehachapi Unified School District
- Oversight of all instructional programs for 5,000 students in grades K-12, including adult education and career technical education
- Developed and implemented staff development for approximately 250 teachers and 250 classified staff
- Principal, Golden Hills Elementary School
- Provided instructional leadership for approximately 750 students and 60 certificated and classified members
- Assistant Principal, Tehachapi High School & Golden Hills Elementary
- Counselor, Greenfield Middle School
- Teacher, McKee Elementary
BARRY MORRIS, Midwest Training Manager
With a distinguished military career serving 20+ years with U.S. Air Force, Barry Morris brings a strong background in leadership and safety to Airstreams. Barry has developed and directed a wind industry safety and training program for over 250+ employees at 9 fixed locations and multiple construction projects throughout the United States over the last 4 years. Barry's experience includes:
- Safety and Training Director for Energy Maintenance Service (EMS)
- Developed, implemented and managed a comprehensive safety program for training wind industry workers, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws
- OSHA outreach for instructor construction and general industry
- National Safety Council CPR and 1st Aid instructor
- Tower Rescue, Hub Rescue and a Tower Emergency Descent instructor
- Forklift instructor
- Barry has an Associates Degree from Community College of the Air Force and is an active member of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Safety committee; he also serves as an advisory board member to several technical colleges wind energy programs throughout the Mid-West.
