Airstreams Renewables Inc Poised For Expansion

Airstreams Renewables Inc, a California based renewable education and training company adds two key personnel to its management staff and gets a nod of approval from Planning Commission to develop a Renewable Energy Learning Center in Tehachapi, CA.

Airstreams Renewables Inc, a first of its kind California based renewable education and training company is positioning itself for explosive growth by adding two key people to its management staff. Lisa Gilbert was named Director of Education, and Barry Morris was recently named Midwest Regional Training Manager. “To ensure our programs maintain the highest quality and meet the industries needs, it was important for us to strengthen in depth and breadth by focusing on educational development standards and expanding our regional footprint”, says Jeff Duff, Executive Vice President.

Gilbert joins Airstreams with extensive professional education experience and will be working to finalize our accreditation as well as working with the many workforce development programs to ensure we are aligned with both our industry and our community. Gilbert joins the Airstreams staff with over 20 years experience in K-12 public education. She has served as a school administrator for 7 years, most recently as Chief Administrator of Instructional Services at the district office level. Gilbert brings a strong background in curriculum and program design, evaluation of instruction and student assessment, staff development and research-based best practices in teaching for student learning.

Morris joins Airstreams with extensive knowledge in Safety Training and will be focused on establishing Airstreams wind energy certification programs in the upper Midwest region as Airstreams finalizes plans for its new Midwest Learning Center. Prior to joining Airstreams, Barry was Director of Safety and Training for Energy Maintenance Service and worked in the medical field for 3 years as a certified Orthotist for Family Orthotics and Prosthetics in Kearney, NE. Barry has a distinguished military career serving 20+ years with U.S. Air Force retiring at the rank of E-7 where he served over 5 years as a Safety Manager. Barry is an OSHA outreach instructor for construction and general industry, a National Safety Council CPR and 1st Aid instructor, a Tower Rescue, Hub Rescue and a Tower Emergency Descent instructor.

In other news, Airstreams gets a nod of approval from the Kern County Planning Commission to open its Renewable Energy Learning Center in Tehachapi, CA. The “Green Corner” a renewable energy training facility in Tehachapi was supported by the Kern County Planning Commission Thursday and will next be reviewed by county supervisors in mid-April. This project is designed to incorporate energy efficient design as part of it development including plans to build a 12-acre solar field and a single wind turbine on 33 acres on the northeast corner of Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road and Jameson Road. “Airstreams employees 40 employees currently with 29 people locally and trains technicians from all over the country. We expect to employ up to 20 local construction workers and up to 20 additional educational instructors and support staff with this project”, said David Schulgen, company president. “The renewable energy industry is ready for explosive growth in the next few years”, Schulgen said, “to do so, it needs skilled workers and our program is designed to immerse students in advanced training given by our training specialist who draw on our 200 years of combined wind energy experience.,” Schulgen said. “We’ve helped literally dozens of companies and colleges start their training (programs).” Airstreams expects its new facility to training 300 to 500 people each year.
