Why Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is the wave of the future. The global recognition of the need for alternative energy sources has highlighted the benefits of renewables as a cleaner source of energy. Countries all over the world are making efforts to produce more electricity from renewable energy sources. In the United States, over 25 states have Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) which require electricity providers to obtain a minimum percentage of their power from renewable energy resources by a certain date (AWEA Fact Sheet, 2008). The United States’ administration has expressed its support for decreasing our nation’s dependence on oil. In the New Energy for America Plan, the President states he will:
- Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 Billion over the next 10 Years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future.
- Ensure 10% of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012,
and 25% by 2025.
- We anticipate that this global shift of our energy sources will result in an unprecedented need for quality trained technicians…This is where YOU come in!
Why Wind
In 2008, according to The American Wind Energy Association, new wind turbine and component manufacturing facilities were opened, expanded or announced in 24 states and an investment of some $17 billion was funneled into the economy, positioning wind power as one of the leading sources of new power generation in the country. The wind energy industry today generates not only clean energy for our economy, but also hope and opportunity for American workers and businesses for the next few decades to come.
Why Now
The time has never been better to start your new career in renewable energy! Given the challenges of our current economy, and the growing need for quality trained technicians, AIRSTREAMS Accelerated Career Training Programs save you time, money and get you out looking for your new job quicker.
